High-power lasers, forest and forestry or defence & security: new business opportunities are the focus of the upcoming trade fair & conference for enabling technologies W3+ Fair 2022 in Wetzlar/ Germany. Two months before the event begins, the stand areas in the hall are well booked and the supporting programme is packed. High-tech experts from optics, photonics, electronics, and mechanics can look forward to an inspiring exchange and interdisciplinary networking.
Hamburg, May 16, 2022. On July 6 + 7, 2022, the W3+ Fair (w3-fair.com/en/wetzlar), the interdisciplinary networking fair & conference for optics, photonics, electronics, and mechanics, will open its doors in Wetzlar/ Germay. Over 150 exhibitors, partners, and speakers, including Bruker, Bühler, ELI Beamlines, Hensoldt, Schunk, Trioptics, TNO, OptoTech, Leica, QED and Zeiss, will present their products and the latest trends. The supporting programme is particularly extensive this year: in addition to the accompanying conference N-Tec Talks, which will fill two stages this year, many competence partners are organising their own events at the fair. The latest developments in cross-sectional technologies related to digitalisation and Industry 4.0 will also be presented, making the W3+ Fair once again an inspiring marketplace for technology-driven innovations. The ticket shop is now open.
Digitalisation, high-power lasers and photonics for forest and forestry
The accompanying N-Tec Talks conference with its 40+ speakers will offer up-to-date knowledge transfer on the overriding themes of new technologies, business opportunities, user markets and Industry 4.0. Top-class speakers from Bosch, EOS, Leica Microsystems, Leica Camera, TNO, Heraeus and Bruker, among others, have already confirmed their attendance. A new feature is a block of lectures on the topic of Defence & Security, which will be filled with presentations from DLR German Aerospace Institute, Hensoldt, POG, Hellma and Quantiox.
The supporting programme also gets off to a promising start on the second day: in the High-Power Lasers workshop by Wetzlar Network, experts, including the ELI Beamlines project, show how to enter this promising market and what new business opportunities and areas of application can be opened up with high-power lasers. Keynote Georg Korn from Marvel Fusion will open the event with his visionary look into the energy generation of the future with the help of laser fusion.
On the second day of the fair, OptecBB, the regional innovation network for optical technologies in Berlin-Brandenburg, invites to the “Forest@Photonics” workshop for the first time. Photonics suppliers will find an interesting perspective on the promising field of forest and forestry and can exchange ideas with industry experts in person.
In addition, the EPIC TechWatch of the European Photonics Industry Consortium and its C-Level Breakfast are fixed components of the fair. The Jena/Thuringia optics region, IVAM with “Microtechnology for Optical Devices” and – new – OptecNet Germany will be represented with joint stands. There will also be special areas on 3D printing/additive manufacturing and robotics – supported by the VDI Mittelhessen. A new feature is the special area of IHK Hessen innovativ – an association of several IHKs – on the topics of sustainability, AI, and digitalisation. Another important component of the fair in Wetzlar will be the topic of recruiting, which is supported this year by Gold Partner EPIC.
“We are proud of this colourful mix of topics and suggestions,” says Project Director Jörg Brück. “Never before have we had such a collection of fringe events. This clearly shows that the need for personal exchange and networking is there again.”
This is the eighth time that the W3+ Fair will provide an inspiring platform for future technologies in Wetzlar: from the interdisciplinary networking, the experts hope to exchange knowledge and make contacts to get new technology-driven innovations off the ground. At the last event in February 2020, shortly before the outbreak of the Corona pandemic, 180 exhibitors and partners met a good 2800 visitors.

About the W3+ Fair
The event traces its roots back to an industry imitative organised in Wetzlar and Mittelhessen, and its objective is to interlink the four sectors of optics, photonics, electronics and mechanics. The aim is that new interfaces and points of contact will pave the way for forward-looking technologies. The trade fair debuted at the Rittal Arena in Wetzlar in February 2014. The W3+ Fair is organised by the Hamburg-based company, FLEET Events (www.fleet-events.de). In September 2019, the W3+ Fair Rheintal celebrated its premiere in the transnational region of Austria, Switzerland, Liechtenstein and Germany, with EPIC, Swissphotonics and Photonics Austria as its Gold Partners.
