N-Tec Talks in the Rhine Valley: a fruitful transfer of knowledge about the latest high-tech and management topics

The N-Tec Talks high-tech conference is a central pillar of the W3+ Fair Rhine Valley trade fair for optics, photonics, electronics and mechanics, which will take place on 23 and 24 September 2020 in Dornbirn. It focuses on the latest developments in the fields of medical technology, production & quality assurance, and management.

Rhine Valley (D/A/CH/LI), 15 July 2020. Top-class speakers have been announced for N-Tec Talks, the high-tech conference that will run in parallel to the high-tech trade fair W3+ Fair Rhine Valley (www.w3-fair.com) on 23 and 24 September 2020 in Dornbirn. The event will look in particular at prospects, opportunities and ideas for the high-tech industry as it emerges from the coronavirus crisis. More than 35 expert speakers from companies and research institutes will provide their assessments and recommendations. The lectures focus on the areas of medical technology, production & quality assurance, and the management topic “Lessons from the coronavirus”. The conference is included in the ticket price for the trade fair.

Transfer of the latest medical technology knowledge relating to the coronavirus

The speakers at the N-Tec Talks include Siegfried Dejaco from thyssenkrupp Presta AG, who will talk about the insights his company has gained over the past few months. Bernhard Nussbaumer from the Austrian Center for Medical Innovation and Technology (ACMIT) will explain in his lecture about the importance of having realistic anatomical models for coronavirus research. Dr. Jens Hain from TRIGA-S will discuss ways of providing preferential approval of relevant medical devices and in-vitro diagnostics in Europe during the pandemic. Alexander Telle from ACM Coatings GmbH will explain various options for the use of deep black coatings for stray light suppression and the associated opportunities for faster and more reliable diagnostics. The lecture given by Thomas Gradl from EOS GmbH will focus on what influence additive manufacturing can have during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Production & quality assurance provide additional topics of focus

There are also topics on the agenda that do not relate to the coronavirus. For example, Dr. Richard Quaderer from RhySearch will discuss the innovative possibilities that the research institute can provide in the areas of optical coating and precision manufacturing. Dr. Roland Goschke from Dioptic will demonstrate the advantages of automatic scratch detection systems compared to manual visual inspections. The latest developments regarding continuously variable filters for applications in spectroscopy in hyperspectral systems and fluorescence diagnostics will be highlighted by Dr. Oliver Pust from Delta Optical Thin Film. The full list of lectures is available at https://w3-messe.de/en/Rhine_Valley/Programme_2020.html#ntec.

“With the W3+ Fair and integrated N-Tec Talks, we are creating an attractive platform for a quick restart after the crisis for the four-country region of the Rhine Valley, which ranks in the top ten among 1,200 high-technology locations in Europe,” explains Jörg Brück, Project Director for the event. “The optics, photonics, electronics and mechanics industries are real drivers of innovation. Product managers, developers and buyers have the opportunity at the W3+ Fair to find out about the latest developments and benefit from the knowledge of the experts who are there. The safety of all participants is our top priority at the event. We will of course comply with all requirements.”

Enabling technologies exhibitors showcase innovative solutions

Well-known enabling technologies exhibitors such as Evatec, ILT Finework, Optics Balzers, OptoTech, RhySearch, Sill Optics, Swarowski, SwissOptic and WZW Optic have already registered for the first non-virtual event since the lockdown. There will also be a joint stand representing the optics region around Jena. All the exhibiting companies will present innovative technologies to visitors from Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Liechtenstein, and demonstrate how user sectors such as medical technology, life sciences, automotive, aerospace and mechanical engineering can benefit from them.

About the W3+ Fair
The event is the result of an industrial initiative in Wetzlar and Central Hessen that aims to promote networking between the three sectors of optics, electronics and mechanics. New interfaces are to be used to launch forward-looking technologies. The fair took place for the first time in February 2014 in the Rittal Arena in Wetzlar. The W3+ Fair is organised by the Hamburg trade fair organiser FLEET Events (www.fleet-events.de). The name comes from Wetzlar Network (www.wetzlar-network.de). New is the W3+ Fair Rheintal, which celebrated its premiere in September 2019 in the four-country region of Austria, Switzerland, Liechtenstein and Germany with gold partners EPIC, Swissphotonics and Photonics Austria.
