Hamburg, 09 May 2019: The W3+ Fair/Convention trade fair, which was held for the sixth time last February at Wetzlar, is now also taking place in the Rhine Valley (www.w3-rheintal.com): On 18 and 19 September 2019, the network event will make its debut in Dornbirn, Austria. The high-tech region with its large catchment area of Austria, Switzerland, Germany and Liechtenstein is one of the top ten of Europe’s 1,200 technology locations. The event, which was originally conceived for the future industries of optics, electronics and mechanics, focuses above all on technological developments for the aerospace, automotive, medical technology, life science and consumer electronics user sectors. More than 50 companies and partners have already registered for the new location, including key players Swissoptic from Switzerland, Optics Balzers from Liechtenstein and Swarovski Optik from Austria. Other European companies such as the PM-Group, Anteryon Optical Solutions, ILT Fineworks and Lucassen Groep from the Netherlands, a joint stand from Thuringia and Delta Optical Thin Film from Denmark have also confirmed their attendance. The Rhyserarch Research and Innovation Center, which provides technology transfer in the areas of “optical coating, precision manufacturing and packaging technology” through networking with research and educational institutions, has also confirmed its attendance. Keynote lectures will be given by Continental and Optics Balzers, among others. There will also be a broad lecture program for intensive knowledge transfer, including the aspherion Academy, short workshops in which topics such as aspheres, freeform, manufacturing and metrology will be taught. The event is prominently supported by gold partners EPIC, the European Photonics Industry Consortium, and the Swissphotonics network. Competent partners such as Spectaris, the association of the high-tech industry, IVAM, the microtechnology business network, and Wetzlar Network will be there to bring together experts from the various sectors to developp ideas. The event sees itself as innovation hub to pave the way for new technologies.

Rheintal as a strong location for applied research and development

The Rhine Valley is home above all to small and medium-sized companies as well as key players in the precision engineering, precision mechanics, optics and electronics sectors. Central competitive advantage of the region: applied research and development for many industrial sectors. “We have chosen the region because we can expand our network initiated in Wetzlar here with many high-potential companies. Participation for companies is uncomplicated: With our compact and low-cost stand system, the effort and costs for exhibitors are manageable”.

About the W3+ Fair/Convention

The event is the result of an industrial initiative in Wetzlar and Central Hessen that aims to promote networking between the three sectors of optics, electronics and mechanics. New interfaces are to be used to launch forward-looking technologies. The fair took place for the first time in February 2014 in the Rittal Arena in Wetzlar. The W3+ Fair/Convention is organised by the Hamburg trade fair organiser FLEET Events (www.fleet-events.de). The namesake Wetzlar Network (www.wetzlar-network.de) and the European Photonics Industry Consortium EPIC (www.epic-assoc.com) will be there as gold partners. New is the W3+ Fair/Convention Rheintal, which will take place for the first time on 18 + 19 September 2019 in the quadrangle of Austria, Switzerland, Liechtenstein and Germany. EPIC and Swissphotonics are gold partners here.
